UK Parliament issues report on drug counterfeiting

18-Feb-2010

The UK Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) has compiled a report examining how the global trade in counterfeit medicines affects the UK and the technologies and policy options available to combat it.

It also examines the risks and benefits of online pharmacy, one of the main ways in which counterfeits are distributed.

To stand alongside the report, POST has also created a 15-minute podcast discussing the role that industry, government and Parliament have in tackling this problem.

The podcast features commentary from Pfizer UK medical director Dr. David Gillen, head of enforcement at the Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Mick Deats, and member of parliament Dr. Howard Stoate. It can be accessed here.
