Medicines on market stall verticalThe government of Nigeria is seeking a compulsory life sentence in jail for anyone found guilty of medicines counterfeiting, according to an article in the Tribune newspaper.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is leading a bid that would repeal the current maximum of 15 years imprisonment and replace it with a life term.

The proposed bill would also make it easier to confiscate the assets of criminals found guilty of participating in the illegal medicines trade, says the newspaper article.
