29-Jul-2010
US pallet rental company iGPS, which specialises in providing pallets with embedded radiofrequency identification (RFID) tags, has opened a new R&D facility in Bentonville, Arkansas, which will also showcase its product portfolio.
iGPS plastic pallets are used in the pharmaceutical sector by companies that want to be able to track shipments, for example to make recalls more efficient. Bob Moore, the company's chief executive and chairman, said the location was in the vicinity of a large number of consumer goods and pharmaceutical companies.
Meanwhile, iGPS has completed construction of a new Global Customer Support and Logistics Centre in Orlando, Florida, consolidating all of its customer service and logistics personnel at one location.
iGPS' pallets are 100 per cent recyclable, 30 per cent lighter than wood and never require treatment with pesticides or fungicides.
